Sleep

When I was in their position,
I could not afford to sleep much.
Sleep was so much a luxury.
Forgoing sleep was the norm.

Now, the position has been reversed.
Sleep is still a luxury.
But what I want is not for me,
but for them, to rest well and sleep well.

They may not be listening,
or they simply can’t afford to.
I still have some hope.
Sleep shall not be a luxury.
